Wiles grabs a win in Gatineau

GatineauTayler “Cookie Monster”* Wiles scored the first UCI Elite individual time trial victory of her career at the Chrono Gatineau in Canada, almost three years to the day since she took the USA Under-23 ITT title back in 2013. Wiles recorded a time of 15’51”, 20″ faster than second-place Leah Kirchmann (Canada National Team) and 28″ faster than third-placed Jasmin Glaesser (Tibco-To The Top).

Known as a technical parcours, the Gatineau circuit is 14km in length and features six climbs ranging between 15 and 23m of vertical gain. Wiles’ average speed was a very impressive 52.99kph.

Wiles was, rather surprisingly considering Specialized-Lululemon’s time trialing prowess, the only representative of her trade team at the race: Karol-Ann Canuel had also been on the roster but was unable to take part due to injuries to her ribs and cervical vertebrae sustained in a crash at last weekend’s Philly Classic.
