Racing Club Omega’s E/1/2/3/4 Susie’s Circuit Races at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on Sunday the 19th proved a popular choice for riders with around 40 women lining up on the start line to begin the 40km event.

Despite a high average speed throughout the race, attacks were numerous. With Velosport having the largest number of riders in the peloton they kept control over proceedings and nobody could get away from the bunch, leading to a sprint from a long way out; the team then executed a perfect lead-out for Abbie Dentus, the De Ver Cycles rider who is spending part of the season guesting for them, and got her into the perfect position to take first place over Team Rytger’s Amy Hill.

“It was extremely close for third between Anna Marie Hughes (Bonito Squadra Corse), Laura Clode (VC St Raphael) and Ruby Chappell (Behind the Bikeshed),” Cliff Hughes, Anna Marie’s father, told Neutral Service. “Looking closely it looks like Laura Clode 3rd, Anna Marie 4th and Ruby Chappell 5th with Anna Marie’s teammate Bethany Taylor 6th.”
