17760095_1387734264618410_2557879271556198960_nLast year’s Lovelo Cinelli Road Race was the first event the club had ever organised, but turned out to be enormously successful with numerous riders taking the time to thank the people involved afterwards. This year’s was, therefore, as good as guaranteed to follow suit – hence all 60 places were filled long before race day.

A crash and “an utter barsteward of a headwind” caused problems for several riders at the Lovelo Cinelli Road Races, splitting the bunch early on in the race and leaving several riders to fight their way around the circuit alone in time trial mode.

Meanwhile, the lead group worked together and soon gained a safe advantage over what was left of the chasers, stretching the gap to over three minutes while a third group hung on another minute behind. Rosamund Bradbury’s attack early in the final lap was a very brave move in such circumstances and could very easily have left her too tired to hold her position in a final sprint, had a final sprint have happened… but, despite a concerted effort to catch her by Team On Form, Welwyn Wheelers, 5th Floor and more,  her gamble paid off and she took another victory for her Sigma Sport team. Her team mate Helen Ralston was second.
