Longo Borghini is new Italian ITT Champ

Elisa Longo Borghini, who rides for the Hitec Products trade team, is the new Italian Individual Time Trial Champion after completing the 23.6km parcours at Povegliano in 31’04”, setting an average speed only just short of 46kph – fast enough to make her a full minute quicker than second-placed Elena Berlato (Ale-Cipollini) and 1’04” faster than Vittoria Busi (SC Michela Fanini ROX) who took the lowest step on the podium.

Rossella Ratto (Estado de Mexico-Faren) was fourth, Valentina Scandolara (Orica-AIS) was fifth, Silvia Valsecchi and Simona Frapporti (both Astana-BePink) were six and seventh and Tatiana Guderzo (Ale-Cipollin) was eighth.

This is Longo Borghini’s first National title, having come second in the ITT in 2012 when she was beaten by Guderzo.
