Alison Kinloch raced at the Critérium du Université deux in York with her PH-MAS team on the 19th of June and came 8th. Here’s her race report…

The Critérium du Université deux was held on York Circuit and organised by Neil Harris on behalf of York Uni. There was a good sized field of 17, enticed by prizes of beer (even though I think some of the juniors’ parents benefited from the primes). PH-MAS (who I ride for) was out in force, with 7 riders spread across the 3rd and 2nd cat groups. There was also a good representation from the University, Alba Rosa and GB Cycles.

Commissaire Julie Rodman handicapped us all into category; the 4th cats were off, then the 3rd cats and, after what seemed like an age, the 2nd/1st cats started (my group). We started to work together but Iona Sewell (GB Cycles) quickly attacked and got away, we continued to chase the 3rd cats but they were working well together. The gap was slowly closing until finally, on the bell lap, we had them in our sights. Seonaid Thompson (Alba Rosa) almost managed to close the gap on the last hairpin but it wasn’t to be, with Iona taking a well-deserved win.
