Giorgia Bronzini, of the British-registered team Wiggle-Honda, won the 131km race in Belgium after a tough battle on the cobbles in Dottignies in which she outsprinted Shelley Olds (Ale-Cipollini), Lucy Garner (Giant-Shimano) and Elena Cecchini (Estada de Mexico-Faren). It’s the first victory of the 2014 season for the Italian rider, who was twice World Road Race Champion.
More details and results to come…
A crash in the first 5km got the event off a poor start with fast sprinter Chloe Hosking of Hitec Products being forced to abandon (the “team selfie” she took before the race has to be seen, though).
