Being a constituent part of the Coupe de France, the GP de Plumelec-Morbihan always attracts a good selection of French riders. Now, after three very successful editions word has spread and riders from a wide variety of other nations took part in the fourth, attracted by a great parcours, good organisation and a warm welcome from the Breton crowds who take passion for cycling far beyond even that of their French neighbours.
Three teams dominated the race with Hitec Products, Poitou-Charentes.Futuroscope86 and Lointek accounting for eight of the top ten places. Hitec Products were the most successful with their French star Audrey Cordon first over the finish line, aided by her Italian team mate Elisa Longo Borghini who recorded an equal time of 3h06’30. Charlotte Bravard (Poitou-Charentes.Futuroscope86) took third place 2’14” later – which sounds considerably more glorious when the fact that the next rider, Aude Biannic (Lointek), did not arrive for a further 1.42″.
